Tracking Ag Assets in Kosciusko County

WARSAW -

The Warsaw-based Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. has announced a project to better understand the agricultural sector in the county and showcase its impact on the economy.  KEDCo., Purdue Extension and the community foundation are helping to launch an asset mapping project.

Grace College agribusiness major, Hallie McGlaun, is driving the effort by contacting and collecting a broad network of growers, distributors and ag retail outlets to develop a master list of agricultural-based resources in the community.

“With participation of local agricultural leaders, we will be better equipped to tell our story about the importance of agriculture in our community,” said KEDCo CEO Alan Tio.

Tio says the coordinated effort will help support innovation, development of local talent and help build marketing opportunities.

“We are excited about the opportunities ahead to identify and connect agricultural assets in our community,” said Tio.

According to KEDCo., the project stems from a roundtable discussion involving Indiana Grown Program Director Heather Tallman who described similar efforts in other Indiana counties. Tallman says those projects have proven valuable to support further development of the agricultural sector in those communities.

"Problems cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them," is attributed to Einstein over 75 years ago. This still holds true, particularly in challenging communications. Many people address conflict at the level it was created by rehashing and building more evidence for their ‘side’ of an argument. Repeating a position tends to intensify the separation of people.
