FORT WAYNE -

Fort Wayne-based Parkview Heart Institute has announced its affiliation with Cleveland Clinic, one of the leading hospitals in the country for cardiology care.

PHI says it will be able to consult on medical procedures with doctors and medical staff from the Cleveland Clinic’s Heart & Vascular Institute.

“The people we serve in this region rely on us to continually improve. By affiliating with the Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute, we’re advancing the quality of care that’s available close to home,” said Roy Robertson, MD, president, Parkview Heart Institute.

U.S. News & World Report just ranked Cleveland Clinic’s cardiology and heart surgery program number 1 in the nation, a ranking it has held for 25 straight years.

Robertson said the affiliation will help not only patients in Fort Wayne, but also patients throughout northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio at the healthcare facilities that partner with the Parkview Heart Institute for treatment.

“Our affiliation with Parkview will enable sharing of best practices, while working together to ensure the highest quality care to patients,” said Lars Svensson, MD, Ph.D., chairman of Cleveland Clinic's Heart & Vascular Institute.
