An economic development initiative in Indianapolis focusing on the city’s music economy and ecology is moving into its second phase. The Indy Chamber says the Indy Music Strategy, which kicked off in February, will bring in researchers from London-based music policy consulting firm Sound Diplomacy to gather information and conduct site visits throughout the city.

Sound Diplomacy has already begun the data collection portion of the project to help build out an ecological assessment and economic impact report. The chamber says the firm will work with city stakeholders over the next few months to "build a comprehensive map of Indy’s music resources and to capture the true economic impact that music has on the city."

The chamber says representatives from the Indy Music Strategy and Sound Diplomacy will be a part of the next Indy Music Social on July 9 to talk and answer questions about the effort. Once the Sound Diplomacy visit is complete, the Indy Music Strategy will distribute a public survey to "better understand, gauge and measure Indy’s music ecosystem.

The Indy Music Strategy says it hopes to have a complete report by the fourth quarter. You can learn more about the effort by clicking here.
