The Portage Y’s preschool program will feature increased activity time during the school day. Curriculum will now incorporate gym time with the Sports Coordinator and structured activities including gymnastics, dance and yoga.
Staff will be trained through the YMCA’s Character Development Leadership Institute which teaches our adults to intentionally practice character development that will build the non-academic skills needed to help our young people flourish.
Five-day classes are now available through the program, as well as a one-day class for two-year-olds.
“Parents have asked for this ever since full-day Kindergarten began. The emotional and social transition from preschool to Kindergarten is a more difficult jump than it was just eight years ago. Now parents have more choices to suit their individual child: start preschool earlier and whether to enroll in our 4- or 5-day program.” said Sr. Programs and Marketing Director Erin Robles, in a news release.
