The Root encompasses 8,000 square feet of an old grocery store in the city’s downtown and currently has 23 members, including venture capitalists, freelancers and professional service providers.
The space features 14 office spaces, three conference rooms and an open-floor concept for members. Brigid Morrissey co-founded The Root along with her father, Mark.
"Our goal is to provide a multitude of work environments where our passionate members can be most efficient," said Morrissey. "We believe that the work you do with the community inside these walls can have a major impact on the community beyond the walls."
Morrissey says they expect the number of members to grow rapidly. The grand opening celebration will also include representatives from the city of New Albany, Develop New Albany and One Southern Indiana, the chamber of commerce for Clark and Floyd counties.
