WEST LAFAYETTE -

The chief operating officer of a Brazil-based ag tech company says he hopes to bring the success he's seen in his home country to the U.S. Daniel Padrao says the U.S. market is very important for Solinftec, which announced Thursday plans to establish its U.S. headquarters at the Purdue Research Park. The company has already set up operations in Florida and California and Padrao says they are moving at a very fast pace.

In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Padrao said the company is looking to follow the same path as it has in Brazil.

"We are growing very fast in Brazil and we truly believe that we can do the same thing that we're doing in Brazil here and have the same results and provide to the farmers the same results," said Padrao. "It's probably in a different way, but that's what we want to do."

Solinftec provides an Internet-of-Things-based platform that gives farmers real-time data on their farms. The company plans to create more than 300 jobs at its U.S. headquarters by 2022. Renato Hersz, director of strategy and corporate development for Solinftec, says they are hoping to have 15-20 people at the location by April with 90-100 people employed by the end of next year.

Padrao says the company is in the middle of its fundraising efforts to continue the development of its technology. The company's plans in West Lafayette have already received incentive offers from the Indiana Economic Development Corp., the city of West Lafayette and Tippecanoe County.
