Daniel’s Family Vineyard & Winery calls the decision to close its winery and tasting room and discontinue all public events "difficult," though it will continue to host private events.
The winery opened to the public in May 2017. Owner Daniel Cook released a statement this week saying the winery has to re-evaluate its business plan due to a lack of support from the McCordsville Town Council.
"When Daniel’s Vineyard was established in 2010, it was zoned for a restaurant, winery, performance pavilion, brewery, along with a few other things," said Cook. "Our first year was on track, then changes were made by the town council. Therefore, due to the new restrictive noise ordinance enacted by the Town of McCordsville, along with constraints and difficulties with other issues presented by the town council, it is in the best interest of the Daniel’s Vineyard to close our current location of the tasting room to the public and explore other locations. We feel this action is necessary to keep Daniel’s Vineyard successful."
Daniel’s Vineyard says it will focus on three core areas: private events, Cellar Club memberships and wine distribution. The winery will continue to host corporate events, weddings, and nonprofit fundraisers, as well as social events for members of its Cellar Club.
