House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88), who chairs the interim study committee process, calls it a "critical time for lawmakers" as they prepare for the upcoming legislative session. The 2019 session will include creation of the biennial budget.

Bosma says "the interim is a critical time for lawmakers to research and vet complex policy issues, and gather input from stakeholders before making recommendations for new laws. We have a wide-range of issues on the table this year and a tough budget session ahead of us, and I know legislators are looking forward to rolling up their sleeves and getting back to work."
