Aunt Millie's Closes Fort Wayne Bakery

Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

The downtown bakery for Fort Wayne-based Aunt Millie’s has officially closed its doors. The company announced in November it was closing the facility, affecting more than 90 jobs.

A spokesperson for Aunt Millie’s told our partners at WPTA-TV earlier this month some of the employees have been able to transfer to other company locations and most have been offered jobs locally.

"The company is appreciative to its hard-working employees for their many years of service," the spokesperson said. "We would like to extend our thanks to the great Fort Wayne companies who reached out and hired them."

The decision to close the bakery was part of an effort to reduce capacity and lower costs through consolidation. Aunt Millie's will remain headquartered in Fort Wayne and will continue to produce goods at six regional locations.
