Jackson Lewis P.C. has added principals Brian McDermott and Robert Seidler to the firm’s Indianapolis office. They both previously worked for Ogletree Deakins.

McDermott has more than 25 years of experience representing private and public employers in individual and class/collective employment actions, including cases involving the FMLA, the ADA, Title VII, the ADEA, ERISA, the FLSA, the NLRA, covenant not to compete/trade secret matters, state wage laws and wrongful discharge. He also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to litigation avoidance and counseling, working with employers to provide employment training, including sexual harassment, hiring/interviewing, employee terminations, union avoidance, diversity and FMLA.

McDermott has served as chairperson of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section and authored several publications for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, in addition to serving on the Chamber’s Human Resources and Employment Law Policy Committee. He has been recognized annually by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Best Lawyers and the Indiana Super Lawyers list. McDermott received his J.D. from the University of Iowa and his B.A. from Loras College. He proudly serves on the board of directors of the Japan American Society of Indiana.

A frequent author and speaker on employment-related topics, Seidler consults with employers of all sizes to help them comply with the state and federal employment laws that affect the workplace, including the FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA and Title VII. He frequently conducts onsite training and seminars to ensure that clients avoid employment pitfalls. Seidler assists employers with developing and reviewing employee handbooks, personnel policies, employment contracts, non-compete agreements, severance agreements, and other employment-related documents. He also advises employers on immigration compliance issues related to Form I-9 requirements. Seidler earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his B.A. from Butler University.
