After more than a decade, Indianapolis-based The Mind Trust founder and Chief Executive Officer David Harris is stepping down. Harris will remain in Indianapolis as a founding partner in a national education change organization that will be launched later this year. Brandon Brown, who currently serves as senior vice president for education with The Mind Trust, has been named the nonprofit's next CEO.

The Mind Trust was established in 2006 and has since launched three incubator programs designed to draw top educators and learning innovators to the city to support the creation of high-quality schools and education-focused nonprofits. It has secured over $80 million from local and national sources in 11-plus years to help with recruitment efforts and supporting 17 new schools and 10 nonprofits.

The Mind Trust Board of Directors Founding Chair Bart Peterson, who previously served as mayor of Indianapolis, said "I've worked with David for more than 20 years, and in that time, I have seen the powerful role he's played to reshape education in Indianapolis. Because of him, our city is upheld nationally as a model of education innovation and a place where the promise of a great education can be fulfilled for all kids. The Mind Trust's Board selected Brandon to succeed David because his leadership, his expertise, and his passion for serving kids make him the best person to continue Indianapolis' momentum. We're pleased to have a strong succession plan to move the organization forward."

Brown came to The Mind Trust in 2015. Harris became the first-ever charter schools director in Indianapolis in 2001. You can connect to more about the leadership change by clicking here.

    • Ahh…Yes! Turning a Hot Mess into a Cool Breeze

"Problems cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them," is attributed to Einstein over 75 years ago. This still holds true, particularly in challenging communications. Many people address conflict at the level it was created by rehashing and building more evidence for their ‘side’ of an argument. Repeating a position tends to intensify the separation of people.
