NEW ALBANY -

WorkOne will Thursday host a manufacturing job fair in New Albany. The organization says the event will focus on assisting workers who have been displaced by recent layoffs from Jeffersonville-based Jeffboat LLC.

The job fair will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 2125 State Street #16 in New Albany. WorkOne says the event will allow regional employers to provide information on current job openings that align with the skillsets of the workers affected by the Jeffboat layoffs.

About 20 manufacturers are expected to attend the job fair, including Honda Automotive, American Synthetic Rubber, Fabtration, Dynacraft, Morgan Foods, Wirecrafters and American Fuji Seal. They will be looking to fill positions such as welders, operations specialists, press operators, engineers, mold technicians, supervisors and shipping/receiving.

WorkOne says the job fair is open to anyone seeking employment in the manufacturing industry. Attendees should dress professionally and bring several copies of their resume.

In November, Jeffboat announced plans to lay off 278 workers by the end of March. Last month, the company said it would lay off another 226 employees through April.
