Cummins Inc. has promoted Melina Kennedy to executive director – pickup business. Regina Barringer will succeed Kennedy as general manager, global rail and defense.

Kennedy joined the company in 2012. Under her leadership, both businesses have significantly grown, with the Rail business seeing more than 90 percent growth in revenues since 2015 as a result of the launch of the QSK 95 Tier 4 engine and entry into the North America high speed Locomotive market. In Defense, Cummins was recently awarded a $250 million dollar contract with the U.S. government to supply V903 engines for military vehicles over the next few years.

Barringer joined the rail and defense team late last year as director of operations. She previously served as account director for Komatsu mining business. While there, Barringer helped grow their mining business globally and drove collaborative efforts with Komatsu and GE to deliver significant fuel saving options and other total cost of ownership improvement initiatives. Prior to that, she held various roles in account management, market planning, quality, materials and customer service functions.

Barringer started her career with Cummins in 2000 at the Seymour Engine Plant where she worked with both rail and defense application engines including managing casting and component supplier relationships and working with the machining lines supporting the make-in-works components for the V903 and QSK/K19.
