Cummins Announces Key Leadership Moves

Cummins Inc. has promoted Melina Kennedy to executive director – pickup business. Regina Barringer will succeed Kennedy as general manager, global rail and defense.

Kennedy joined the company in 2012. Under her leadership, both businesses have significantly grown, with the Rail business seeing more than 90 percent growth in revenues since 2015 as a result of the launch of the QSK 95 Tier 4 engine and entry into the North America high speed Locomotive market. In Defense, Cummins was recently awarded a $250 million dollar contract with the U.S. government to supply V903 engines for military vehicles over the next few years.

Barringer joined the rail and defense team late last year as director of operations. She previously served as account director for Komatsu mining business. While there, Barringer helped grow their mining business globally and drove collaborative efforts with Komatsu and GE to deliver significant fuel saving options and other total cost of ownership improvement initiatives. Prior to that, she held various roles in account management, market planning, quality, materials and customer service functions.

Barringer started her career with Cummins in 2000 at the Seymour Engine Plant where she worked with both rail and defense application engines including managing casting and component supplier relationships and working with the machining lines supporting the make-in-works components for the V903 and QSK/K19.

    • French Lick Resort Details $17M Expansion

      French Lick Resort has announced plans for a $17 million expansion project. The Orange County venue says construction has already begun on a six-story guestroom addition and new sports bar, which is expected to be complete in the fall of 2019. The project will add 56 guestrooms to French Lick, bringing the total number of rooms to 742 between the resort's two hotels.     • Manufacturer Bringing 500+ Jobs to Hobart

      An Illinois-based manufacturer is moving two manufacturing operations from Illinois to Indiana, with plans to create up to 582 jobs in Hobart by the end of 2021. Wynright Corp., which makes intelligent material handling systems, says it will invest $26 million to build and equip a facility at the NorthWind Crossings business park. Parent company Daifuku North America says the move puts the operations under one roof in a location that's able to handle future growth.

      500 Festival Names Board Officers

      The Indianapolis-based 500 Festival has elected officers for its 2018-2019 board of directors. The nonprofit says Mike Strohl, chief customer officer for Citizens Energy Group, will serve as chairman of the board. Strohl previously served as vice chairman of the board for the 500 Festival.

      AM General Wins $560M Humvee Contract

      A major contract has been awarded to South Bend-based AM General LLC. The more than $560 million deal involves production of 2,800 Humvee ambulances.
