The nonprofit says the collaboration will bring its Kids Riding Bikes program to the physical education classes at every elementary and middle school in Hendricks and Putnam counties.
The program utilizes stationary bicycle simulators designed to not only help students get active, but work as a team and learn about athleticism and the hardware of biking. Hendricks Regional Health says the three-year partnership will give 7,500 area students access to the program.
"Our partnership with Nine13sports doesn’t just provide physical activity; it gets kids participating in high-intensity exercise," says Adam Scott, business and community relations manager at Hendricks Regional Health. "If it wasn’t for this program, many of these students would not otherwise partake in this type of activity."
Nine13sports says the partnership will include a dedicated operations team, co-branded equipment and an increased presence at community events. You can learn more about the Kids Riding Bikes program by clicking here.
In November, Nine13sports announced a new, four-week program, known as Kids Building Bikes, in which students learn about bike safety and maintenance. The program is slated to begin this summer.
