Cummins’ Global Tech Ed Program Launches in U.S.
Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is bringing a global training initiative to the United State for the first time. Its Technical Education for Communities program, already operating in 22 international sites, has launched at a school in Tennessee. Cummins says the TEC site at the T-STEM Academy at East High School in Memphis involves 10 education and industry partners from the area.
Cummins Foundation Chief Executive Officer Mary Titsworth Chandler says the program helps address the technical skills gap. "Through this partnership, uniting our TEC: Technical Education for Communities program with local communities here in Memphis," she says, "we are able to teach students industry-relevant technical skills that will help our communities thrive now and in the future."
More than 1,000 students have participated in the TEC program so far. It involves a standardized education platform so partnering schools can create market-relevant curriculum, teacher training, career guidance and practical experiences.
