The parent of INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway says Verizon has opted not to extend its current deal.
Verizon became the title sponsor for the series in 2014 replacing IZOD, which had served as sponsor for the previous four years. Hulman & Co. says Verizon will still have a presence in the series through its ongoing relationship with Team Penske.
"We truly appreciate the significant resources – both financial and technical — that Verizon has invested in INDYCAR," said Mark Miles, chief executive officer of Hulman & Co. "Our series and sport have benefitted across a variety of fronts as a result of our work together, and they have been great partners."
Hulman & Co. says it will look to combine both series title sponsorship and digital rights into a new distribution package when it begins to re-license media rights for the 2019 season.
