The schedule includes 17 races, including the series’ return to the Pacific Northwest with a race at Portland International Raceway.
The Portland race, to be held on Labor Day weekend next year, replaces the event at Watkins Glen International. It will be the first time INDYCAR has raced in Portland since 2007.
"INDYCAR couldn’t be more excited to again race in front of one of our strongest fan bases," said Mark Miles, chief executive officer of Hulman & Co., parent INDYCAR and the Verizon IndyCar Series. "Portland International Raceway has produced thrilling road racing throughout Indy car history – the 1997 finish still stands as the record for the closest finish on a road or street course – and the timing of our return couldn’t be better given the bold new look our cars will have in 2018. We expect this will be a show fans won’t want to miss."
The 2018 season will include the debut of the new universal aero kits that will be used by all teams. The aero kits were unveiled in July at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will replace the previous aero kits manufactured by Honda and Chevrolet.
The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series Schedule includes:
- March 11: Streets of St. Petersburg
- April 7: Phoenix Raceway
- April 15: Streets of Long Beach

"The strength and consistency of the Verizon IndyCar Series’ 2018 schedule is something all of us should be proud of," said Miles. "We’re also looking forward to continuing the upward trend of the series through the introduction of the universal aero kits, which testing has shown to be an exciting product."
INDYCAR says all of the races will be broadcast on ABC, NBCSN and the Advanced Auto Parts INDYCAR Radio Network. A full broadcast schedule has not yet been announced.
