RESTON, Va. -

A monthly report from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association shows RV shipments continue to outpace last year's numbers. The organization says June marked the fourth straight month shipments exceeded the 40,000-unit mark, adding to a more than 13 percent jump through the first half of 2017, compared to the same period last year.

June 2017 shipments, according to results of an RVIA survey, came in at 47,416 units, up from 40,072 units during the same month last year. Year-to-date, shipments rose to 256,430, higher than the 226,286 reported through the first six months of 2016.

Shipments of all towable RV's increased 20 percent over last June to 42,240 and motorhome shipments climbed six percent to 5,176 units.

The RVIA represents 98 percent of U.S. producers and suppliers in the industry. Half of all RVs currently on the road were manufactured in Elkhart County, according to the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
