The Albers House, which is now owned by Indiana Landmarks, is undergoing renovations and the organization says it could be ready for a buyer in the fall.
The nearly 170-year-old structure was originally the home of its Liechtenstein-born builder, Phillip Albers, and later served as a public house.
Indiana Landmarks took on the home last year after it was slated to be torn down. It describes the condition at the time as "a vacant and dilapidated eyesore." The funds the city was previously set to use for demolition were instead used for a new roof. Indiana Landmarks is currently cleaning out the interior, restoring windows, repointing the brick, painting and rebuilding its dual staircase that rises to the front door on the second floor.
