The Indiana Department of Education has named Carla Prickel of St. Louis Catholic School the 2017 School Food Service Employee of the Year. She has served the Batesville school as cafeteria manager for the past 10 years.

Created in 1997, the Indiana School Food Service Employee of the Year Award provides recognition to school food service employees who contribute significantly to the health and learning capabilities of students. As a School Food Service Employee of the Year, Prickel will receive a plaque from IDOE showing formal recognition of her achievement, along with a $200 award, presented by the Indiana Nutrition Council.
