The towns of Speedway and Brownsburg will each break ground Wednesday on major developments. Brownsburg officials will celebrate the beginning of an $80 million master plan to create a new downtown, while a new hotel will serve as a highlight of Speedway’s Crawfordsville Road corridor.

Officials in Speedway will break ground on a $12 million Courtyard by Marriott hotel the town says will be an anchor for the 20-acre Speedway Marketplace mixed-use development. The 69,000 square-foot hotel, which will feature a racing design theme, is expected to be complete by fall 2018.

"We are delighted to welcome this Courtyard by Marriott to Speedway," said Speedway Town Manager Jacob Blasdel. "We have been thoughtful and strategic in how we attract and engage businesses in our community in the last ten years. The redesign of the I-465 and Crawfordsville Rd. interchange has created a significant opportunity for this area to become a hub of hospitality and entertainment throughout this busy corridor."

The ground breaking ceremony in Speedway is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, Brownsburg Town Manager Grant Kleinhenz will join town councilors, redevelopment commission officials and others to break ground on the Elevate Office Suites, located in Arbuckle Acres Park. The town says the project is the first investment in the $80 million master plan for downtown Brownsburg.

The event in Brownsburg is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
