INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indianapolis Airport Authority is will Thursday celebrate the inaugural flight of Alaska Airlines at Indianapolis International Airport. The airport's newest carrier will begin its daily, nonstop service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, a valued destination for the tech community.

The IAA first announced the new nonstop in August. Executive Director Mario Rodriguez told Inside INdiana Business at the time the new flight would have wide implications for the airport and the business community in Indiana.

Alaska Airlines also announced earlier this year it would begin a new, daily nonstop flight to San Francisco in September.

An event for officials, passengers with a valid boarding pass and members of the media will be held at the gate of the departing flight. Rodriguez will speak at the event, along with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger.
