Manchester University has selected W. Thomas Smith dean of Pharmacy Programs in the College of Pharmacy, Natural and Health Sciences. In his new role, he oversees both the Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics programs that are based at the MU Fort Wayne campus. Smith previously served as pharmacy associate dean of assessment and administration. He worked with faculty, students and other stakeholders in implementing the assessment plan for the doctoral program, as well as teaching pharmacy law courses since joining Manchester in May 2015. Smith is currently serving a three-year appointment on the Food and Drug Administration’s Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and his Juris Doctor Degree and certificate in health law from St. Louis University School of Law. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Society for Pharmacy Law and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. He has served as an author, speaker and leader in such areas as pharmacy law, cultural competency, health disparities, bioethics and disability law.
