Subscribe NowStarMedia has named Kim Walton (pictured) “Nurse of the Year.” She is chief nurse executive for ambulatory care services for Community Health Network. The “Nurse of the Year” was selected from those five winners at the 15th annual “Salute to Nurses” awards dinner. Walton has been with Community since 1998. She served as executive director and chief clinical officer for behavioral health services before being named chief nurse executive for ambulatory care services earlier this year. Walton was honored in part for her work with “Camp Erin,” a free camp designed for children ages 6 to 17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Along with “Nurse of the Year,” she was honored in the Lifetime of Compassion category.
Two other Community Health Network nurses were also recognized as part of the Salute to Nurses program:
• Paige Dooley, chief nurse executive for the East region, the winner in the Advancement of Nursing category.
• Rebecca Pollert, school-based nurse on the south side, the winner in the Community Outreach category.
