'Uber-Style' App Connects Businesses With Voice Talent

Fishers-based Fuzic Chief Executive Officer Brent Oakley says his startup that uses an "Uber-style model" to connect businesses with custom music and messaging is quickly gaining traction. Oakley, who owns the Prime Car Wash chain in central Indiana, says the inspiration for the new venture came about and was tested at the car wash. The idea is to connect businesses with music and voice talent "anytime, anywhere" for personalized in-store messaging using a mobile app. Former Salesforce Marketing Cloud CEO and current Indianapolis-based High Alpha Managing Partner Scott McCorkle recently joined Fuzic as executive chairman of the board. 

During an interview this week on Inside INdiana Business Television, Oakley said Fuzic is already operating in 100 businesses and has partnered with Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG). "They (Simon) immediately got it. They immediately saw how important it is to be able to talk to customers within the malls and not only that, but possibly use it as an engagement platform for people wanting to advertise at Simon Malls," Oakley said. "So that was an exciting thing that we never saw happening until then."

The company is also in the finishing stages of an outside round of funding. Oakley says Fuzic is looking to grow and could move into larger office space.
