Brackets For Good National Tournament Begins

Sixty-four nonprofits from throughout the country will compete for a $100,000 prize in the fundraising tournament.
Brackets For Good Executive Director Matt McIntyre and AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards spoke with Inside INdiana Business Television in October about the move to go national.
The organization announced in October that it would partner with AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) to launch the national tournament. Brackets For Good held its first contest in Indianapolis in 2012. Since then, it has held tournaments in St. Louis, Ann Arbor, Minneapolis and Louisville. Baltimore, Cincinnati, Denver, Hartford, Miami and Nashville, Tennessee will hold their first tournaments this year.
To date, Brackets For Good events have raised more than $2.75 million for local charities. In all, more than 680 nonprofits will take part in tournaments this year. Organizations including Girls Who Code, Teach For America, Keep America Beautiful and World Food Program USA will take part in the inaugural national tournament.
Nonprofits participating in the tournament look to inspire donors to help them out-fundraise their opponents in order to advance. Nonprofits keep all donations they receive during tournament play, no matter how far they advance. The winner of each event receives an additional championship grant. In the national tournament, the winning organization will also receive a $100,000 contribution.
