Ivy Tech, USI Launch Reverse Transfer Program

The University of Southern Indiana is the latest institution to establish a reverse transfer agreement with Ivy Tech Community College. It allows students who have transferred to USI after earning credits toward an associate degree at Ivy Tech to complete their degrees.

Students must have at least 60 combined credit hours from both institutions with at least 15 credits coming from Ivy Tech to be eligible for the reverse transfer. They must also be currently enrolled at USI and will not be eligible if they currently hold an associate degree or higher.

"Offering students the ability to earn an associate degree through the reverse transfer opportunity creates a milestone on their educational journey," said Russ Baker, vice president of academic affairs and university transfer division at Ivy Tech. "This credential may make them more marketable, keep them motivated on their way toward a bachelor’s degree, and serve as a valuable asset should they be delayed in achieving their ultimate degree goal."

As part of the agreement, USI will notify students who are eligible to participate.

Ivy Tech has similar agreements with other institutions, including Indiana State University, Purdue University and Western Governors University. USI also has reverse transfer agreements with several Kentucky institutions, including Henderson Community College, Madisonville Community College and Owensboro Community & Technical College.
