Brohm Named Purdue Football Coach
Purdue University has a new head football coach. Athletics Director Mike Bobinski has announced Western Kentucky University Head Coach Jeff Brohm has signed a six-year deal to lead the team.
The university calls Brohm "one of the most innovative offensive masterminds in college football." He succeeds Darrell Hazell, who was fired in October after three and a half seasons with Purdue.
"We were fortunate to meet with many talented coaches from around the country during our search, and Jeff’s name was one that rose to the top early in the process," said Bobinski. "He is a coach who already has achieved tremendous success and, at the same time, has incredible upside. His reputation and record of accomplishment as an innovative offensive coach and developer of quarterbacks is second to none."
Brohm earned a 30-10 overall record at Western Kentucky with two Conference USA championships and three bowl games, including the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl on December 20. He was named MVP of the University of Louisville team, where he played quarterback, during his junior and senior years. He played in the National Football League for seven seasons as well as a stint in the short-lived XFL.
Purdue says Brohm’s contract still requires approval by the university’s board of trustees.
