Deaconess Health System has announced Chief Executive Officer Linda White is retiring. She has served in the role since 2004 and will officially step down June 30. The Deaconess Board of Directors has selected Shawn McCoy to succeed White as CEO. McCoy currently serves as executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Deaconess. Following her retirement, White will serve as CEO emerita of Deaconess for a one-year term. White’s 40-year career began as a student in the Deaconess School of Nursing and since that time, she has served in a number of roles, including nurse analyst, vice president of nursing, chief operating officer and president of Deaconess Hospital. The board has also selected James Porter, the current executive vice president of the physician enterprise at Deaconess, to serve as president of Deaconess Health System. He and McCoy will assume their new roles July 1. In addition to the appointments, the board has elected Steve Titzer to serve as the new chairman of the board. He succeeds Benkert, who has completed his three-year term as chair and has been named board member emeritus.
