INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis-based R² Freight & Logistics Inc. has acquired the transportation services division of Plainfield-based Integrated Distribution Services Inc. Financial details were not disclosed, but the company says no jobs will be affected by the deal.

R² Chief Executive Officer Rick LaGore says the division, which previously operated as IDS Transportation Services, "achieved its full vision under the IDS structure and it was time to expand upon the vision to bring to market other freight solutions with the same over-the-top customer experience shippers have come to expect from us."

Mark DeFabis, CEO of IDS, says the acquisition will allow the division to be more competitive and innovative.

LaGore says the company plans to close on another acquisition at the end of November, which is expected to create a small number of jobs. He says R² will continue is rapid growth plans from there with future acquisitions and organic growth.

    • Hope is Not a Plan

This is sobering. A local business broker in Indianapolis reports nine out of 10 business owners who want to sell are turned away. Of the one in 10 that does make it past the first analysis to sell, over half of those company owners don’t get the sale price they hope for or believe the business is worth. Bottom line, hope is not a plan if you want to sell your business.
