The lab is an addition to the Middleton Hall of Science on the Mishawaka campus that the college says will allow students to learn and practice in a "realistic and risk-free environment."
Construction is expected to be complete in 2017. It will feature high-fidelity simulation mannequins known as Human Patient Simulators.
"The college’s nursing graduates have been very successful without high-fidelity simulation, as evidenced by Bethel’s NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) pass rates (above the national average) and a strong reputation throughout the community, but the labs will provide practice learning experiences that fully challenge and prepare graduates for the increasing complexity of today’s healthcare environment," Bethel College said in a statement.
Bethel says the lab is being funded by a $500,000 foundation grant and contributions from a number of organizations, alumni and friends of the college. The ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
