Bob & Tom Among Hall of Fame Inductees

CARMEL -

The Indiana Broadcasters Association has announced five new inductees to the Richard M. Fairbanks Hall of Fame. The class will be inducted November 17 at the IBA's 2016 Indiana Broadcasters Conference in Carmel.

This year's inductees include longtime radio broadcasting partners Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold, who hosted The Bob & Tom Show in Indianapolis from 1983 until 2015 when Kevoian announced his retirement. The show went on to become nationally syndicated in 1995.

Also being inducted is Brad Byrd, lead anchor and managing editor for our partners at WEHT-TV and WTVW-TV in Evansville. Byrd has already been inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle Hall of Fame.

The IBA is also inducting Ed Roehling, who was instrumental in putting several radio stations on the air in Winchester, Columbus and Rushville, among others. He was also a communications professor at what is now the University of Indianapolis and served as general manager of WICR-FM for 20 years at the university.

Finally, Bill Shirk will be inducted into the hall of fame. Shirk, who currently serves as director and president of Hoosier Broadcasting Corp. in Lebanon, has been involved with numerous radio stations in central Indiana for more than 30 years.

"We are honored to welcome these five legendary broadcasters into the Fairbanks Hall of Fame," said Dave Arland, executive director of the IBA. "Our Hall of Fame recipients represent the best in the business and have served as stewards of information and entertainment in our communities for many years. Along with the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers, this year’s class of Hall of Fame winners represent the best of Indiana’s long history in radio and TV broadcasting."

Though I fully respect and agree with this results-oriented perspective on content, in practice it can be...
