Daimler Chooses Boone County For Distribution Center
Daimler Trucks North America says it will locate its first Midwest parts distribution center in Whitestown. The company says the $12 million project will result in up to 45 new jobs by 2017.
The more than 280,000 square-foot facility will be in the AllPoints at Anson business park, with construction set to begin in October. The company expects the operation to process 7,000 new parts daily, which will reach a 350-mile radius from Whitestown.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Daimler up to $310,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. Whitestown and Boone County will consider additional incentives.
The IEDC says the move is a reflection of the state’s logistics strength, citing the nation’s second-largest FedEx hub, the eighth-largest cargo air facility, more than 40 freight railroads and three international ports.
Daimler is headquartered in Portland, Oregon and employs more than 20,000 associates throughout the United States.
