Cayuga Added to Main Street Program

CAYUGA -

The town of Cayuga is the newest member of the Indiana Main Street Program. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs says the Cayuga Area Revitalization Effort was instrumental in the designation.

Some of the work done by CARE includes the sponsorship of beautification projects, coordinating the design of community projects and providing funds for special projects. OCRA says the organization also works to bring about business expansion through the promotion of growth and business development in the downtown area.

"A Main Street designation recognizes the commitment a community has to the enhancement of their downtown," said Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb. "Main streets are focal points where businesses, residents and visitors alike can come together and benefit from the quality of place. I congratulate the Cayuga team on their IMS membership and am confident this is just the beginning of positive news for their downtown."

Cayuga joins more than 110 other communities in the IMS program. OCRA says the program aims to encourage economic development, redevelopment and improvement to downtown areas throughout Indiana.
