The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the goal of the funding is to support the development of a skilled, diverse healthcare work force.
The grants are a part of $149 million awarded each year through 12 work force programs. The grants for Indiana’s recipients were given through three of the programs, including Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship, Advanced Nursing Education and the Nurse Faculty Loan Program.
"These awards will help increase access to quality health care for all Americans by educating and training culturally competent providers who are prepared to practice in high-need areas," Jim Macrae, acting administrator of the HRSA.
