The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation has named the winners of the 2016 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards. Bloomington native Karen Joy Fowler won the National Author Award and its $10,000 prize. The foundation says any published author who was either born in Indiana or has lived in the state for at least five years was eligible for nomination. Danville native Philip Gulley won the Regional Author Award and a $7,500 prize. April Pulley Sayre, a children’s picture book author from South Bend, won the first-ever Genre Excellence Award and $6,000. The Emerging Author Award finalists are Sarah Gerkensmeyer of Greencastle, Bill Kenley of Noblesville and Edward Kelsey Moore of Indianapolis. The eight annual Indiana Authors Award dinner, during which all of the winners and finalists will be honored, will be held in October at the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis.
