Construction began in November on the four-story treehouse, which will welcome visitors July 1.
The experience stands 45 feet-high and includes a 30-foot suspension bridge, nature walk and a simulated archaeology site.
Chief Executive Officer Norman Burns says "our goal is to help get children and families outdoors to investigate, explore, create and imagine. Our focus with Treetop Outpost is to spark visitors’ curiosity about how people throughout history used nature for necessity and inspiration, how we use natural resources today and how we can preserve those resources for the future."
Treetop Outpost is an official Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project. Conner Prairie covers 800 acres and is the state’s first Smithsonian Institute affiliate. Some 390,000 pass through annually.
