UPDATE: Inside INdiana Business has learned Salesforce is planning a major expansion involving 800 jobs and a new name for the city’s tallest building.

INDIANAPOLIS – Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) is set to make an announcement today in downtown Indianapolis. Governor Mike Pence, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Chief Executive Officer Scott McCorkle will take part in this morning’s event. It comes amid a wave of momentum in Indiana, which McCorkle calls a "great technology success story." During his acceptance speech after receiving the Trailblazer Award at the 2016 Mira Awards, he said, "as amazing as ExactTarget was, we’re doing our best work now as part of Salesforce."

During an interview after accepting the award, McCorkle said he believes "the best years are yet to come" in Indiana’s tech sector, thanks to talented entrepreneurs and computer scientists. He says recent success stories are raising expectations in the industry, saying there is "an energy, and a confidence underlying that energy."

The announcement comes as Indiana’s tech sector celebrates continued growth. Earlier this week, digital printing company DuraMark Technologies Inc. and software developer Lumavate LLC announced expansion plans involving a total of more than 120 new Hamilton County jobs.

Salesforce acquired ExactTarget Inc. in 2013 in a blockbuster $2.5 billion deal.

This morning’s announcement is set for 9:45. Inside INdiana Business will continue to update this story.
