The ballot also includes high-profile U.S. Senate and House of Representatives races. During an INsiders panel on Inside INdiana Business television, Faegre Baker Daniels Partner Murray Clark said having a primary election that matters tends to create "organization, enthusiasm and energy that carry over to the general election."
Today’s election comes after a flurry of campaign stops throughout the state from presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. Many see Indiana’s primary as a "make or break" moment for Republican Ted Cruz. He announced his running mate, Carly Fiorina, during a stop in Indianapolis last week. Cruz has also picked up the support of Indiana Governor Mike Pence. For his part, Donald Trump has earned the endorsements of former Indiana University basketball coach Bob Knight, former Purdue University basketball coach Gene Keady and former University of Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz. Throughout the primary season, however, big-name endorsements haven’t always led to wins. Clark says he does not think "endorsements carry the weight that they used to."
Indiana’s impact includes 83 delegates up for grabs on the Democrat side, and 57 for Republicans.
Today’s ballot also includes local primaries. They include the races for governor and seats in the State House, State Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. You can find more information on the candidates by clicking here.
