Aqua America Acquires Floyd County Utility

(NYSE: WTR) has completed seven acquisitions throughout the country, including one in Floyd County. The company has acquired the Galena wastewater system, which serves about 400 people near Greenville.
Aqua says the seven acquisitions add more than 4,700 customer connections for the company. The other six acquisitions were in Pennsylvania, Illinois and North Carolina.
"We welcome our new customers in these four states," said Dan Schuller, executive vice president for strategy and corporate development at Aqua. "We look forward to serving these customers and investing in the utility infrastructure necessary to provide them with the quality water and reliable water and wastewater service they deserve, and for which Aqua is known."
The company did not state whether the acquisitions would result in any changes for customers. Aqua currently provides water and wastewater services in Allen, Clark, Floyd, Hancock, Hendricks, Huntington, Lake, Montgomery, Morgan, Porter and Whitley counties.
