Organizers of the 2016 BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel say the event has already exceeded its volunteer goal. The September tournament is expected to attract more than 150,000 fans and generate a $30 million economic impact on central Indiana.

BMW Championship co-chairs Kent Frandsen and John Crisp will be guests on Inside INdiana Business Television this week to discuss the volunteer effort, economic impact and corporate support for this year’s event.

Event leaders say they have filled more than 2,200 positions with volunteers from 29 states and four countries. Crooked Stick Golf Club President Kent Frandsen says topping the volunteer goal is a "true testament to our community, the hard work of our staff and Crooked Stick's commitment to once again provide the best experience possible for all of those who attend."

Organizers say all volunteer positions are currently filled, but those who are interested can join a waiting list.

The 2016 BMW Championship is set for September 6-11 at Crooked Stick. The event is part of the PGA TOUR's FedExCup Playoffs. Former winners include Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Zach Johnson, Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson.
