WEST LAFAYETTE -

Startups developing a hypothermia treatment and a more environmentally-friendly rocket propellant took the top prizes at Purdue University's Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition. The winners will share in cash prizes and resources including incubator space and consulting services.

Adranos Energetics LLC won the top prize in the Gold Division for its plan to develop greener and more powerful rocket fuel or aviation and aerospace industries. The team, led by Shane McGuire, Brandon Terry, Luciano Mozzone and Chris Stoker, receives $30,000, incubator space at the Purdue Technology Center and consulting services from Ice Miller LLP.

HemoTherm, led by Tori Clift, Stephanie Eichman and Sahil Sanghani, took the top spot in the Black Division for undergraduate teams. The plan centers around a device to help control body temperatures in patients. In addition to a $20,000 prize, the team will receive a free registration to the Krannert School of Management's AMP program.

In the Gold Division, MarginPAT earned second place for its plan to develop an imaging tool to help distinguish between tumor and non-tumor tissue. Third place went to the team behind RoboDesk, a robotic desk that attaches to wheelchairs, recliners and hospital beds.

In the Black Division, second place went to Froyo Xpress, a frozen yogurt vending machine. The Sweet Corn Truck earned third place for its plan to deliver premium-quality sweet corn throughout the year.

In the Black Division, Froyo Xpress received $10,000 for its second-place finish. The concept combines the experience of frozen yogurt with the convenience of a traditional vending machine, reaching locations inaccessible to traditional retailers and allowing consumers to personalize their treat with syrups and toppings straight out of the machine.

The annual Purdue entrepreneurship competition began in 1987.
