The new tower will serve the area surrounding the lakes and Nineveh itself in Johnson County. AT&T says the addition will allow customers to receive better service on their mobile devices.
"This kind of investment is critical to sustaining the growth of our local economies and improving the quality of life in rural areas," said State Rep. Eric Koch (R-65). "We appreciate the continued investment by AT&T necessary to bring the latest technology to all parts of our state. We’ve worked hard to create a favorable regulatory climate for telecommunications investment in Indiana, and this is further evidence that those efforts are working."
Koch represents the area in which the tower was build and also serves as chairman of the House Utilities, Energy & Telecommunications Committee. AT&T says it invested nearly $2 billion in its wireless and wired networks in Indiana between 2012 and 2014.
