It notes that by 2025, more than 60 percent of jobs in the United States will require a postsecondary credential, only 43 percent of Northeast Indiana’s population will meet that standard.
The Big Goal Collaborative is a collaboration of more than 150 businesses, community partners and educators in Northeast Indiana who have teamed up to increase educational attainment in the region.
This is the group’s second annual Snapshot of Education report, and it features information from 29 school districts, five technical education centers, seven postsecondary institutions and other public sources.
“In Northeast Indiana, we are committed to the belief that every child has the right to success in school and life, and that every adult has the right to economic prosperity. To become a global competitor and transform our economy, Northeast Indiana must work together to reach 60 percent. The 2015 Snapshot shows progress, but with grit and determination we still have work to do to reach the Big Goal," said Ryan Twiss, director of Regional Initiatives at the Partnership.
The report does show improvements in postsecondary enrollment, which increased by .4 percent. The Snapshot also found a 1.5 percent increase in postsecondary persistence, and .2 percent increase in high school graduation.
