North Carolina-based Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) has promoted Doug Esamann, president of Duke Energy Indiana since 2010, to president of the utility's Midwest and Florida regions and corporate executive vice president. Esamann will oversee Duke Energy's Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Florida operations. Melody Birmingham-Byrd, who currently serves as senior vice president of Midwest Distribution Operations, will replace Esamann as president of Duke Energy Indiana.

Esamann is a 36-year veteran of Duke Energy, Indiana's largest electric utility.
