An annual convention that draws more than 50,000 people from throughout the country could once again make its long-term home in Indianapolis. The FFA, which was already scheduled to return its national convention from Louisville to Indianapolis from 2016-2018, says it is in negotiations with the city to extend the contract through 2024. The FFA says growing membership and attendance has resulted in the need for more space.

News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — As you may remember, in 2008 it was announced that the National FFA Convention & Expo would move to Louisville for 2013-2015 and then back to Indianapolis for 2016-2018. The contract then held an option for Louisville to host the following three years, upon review of the requirements for the event.

Over the last few years, our membership numbers have continued to increase, and as a result, attendance at the National FFA Convention & Expo has increased as well. This has resulted in the need for more meeting room space and hotel rooms during the week.

After careful evaluation by the FFA board of directors, the board has made the decision that FFA will not return to Louisville for 2019-21. As a result of this decision, the organization is currently in negotiations with Indianapolis to host the National FFA Convention & Expo from 2016-2024.

This information was shared with Louisville and national FFA staff earlier this week.

We appreciate Louisville's hospitality and look forward to celebrating the 88th National FFA Convention & Expo with our partners in Louisville Oct. 28-31, 2015.
