The Midwest Fashion Week spring event is underway in Indianapolis. Organizers say the show, which runs through Saturday, is designed to support those in the region looking to pursue a career in the industry. March 20, 2015

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 16, 2015) – Hot on the heels of Milan Fashion Week, Indianapolis-based production company Midwest Fashion Week (MFW) is releasing details regarding its Spring 2015 season taking place March 22-28 in Indianapolis. A full week of events showcasing collections of student and emerging designers, high-profile networking opportunities and educational fashion and beauty seminars, the series would not be complete without nonprofit partners to share in the success. With much anticipation, Midwest Fashion Week has officially announced its community partners for the upcoming season.

“Giving back to the community is truly at the core of Midwest Fashion Week and each season we are pleased to partner with new organizations to bring awareness to the many good things happening in Indianapolis,” stated Midwest Fashion Week Director, Berny Martin. “This spring we are excited to work with the Simon Youth Foundation and Indy Yoga Movement in honor of their hard work in supporting the young people in our beautiful city.”

Simon Youth Foundation (SYF), a national nonprofit, exists to help at-risk students who are on the verge of dropping out of high school stay in school. Through 22 Simon Youth Academies in 12 states and Simon Youth Scholarships, SYF advocates, creates and initiates educational opportunities for students so they can start here and go anywhere. In partnership with local public schools, SYF has maintained a 90% graduation rate at its Academies since inception, graduated more than 12,000 students, and awarded more than $12 million in scholarships.

Indy Yoga Movement is dedicated to bringing yoga to schools in central Indiana. Students learn how to focus on their breath while physically moving through yoga postures during guided instruction. They also learn meditation skills to help improve their ability to focus in school and better handle the stresses of social and academic pressures.

Community partners will not only benefit from event proceeds but also have the exclusive opportunity to share their vision with event attendees in hopes of gaining further support through funding or volunteer work.
