Minor League Baseball continues to enjoy popularity nationwide, and teams in Indiana are part of that momentum. The Indianapolis Indians, South Bend Cubs and Fort Wayne TinCaps all notched attendance records in 2014. Indians Vice President Cal Burleson says one of the challenges of maintaining success is the significant competition from other sports and forms of entertainment. During a recent interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Burleson said the clubs help “elevate the quality of life” in their home cities. In South Bend, big upgrades to Four Winds Field at Stanley Coveleski Stadium will debut along with the team's new name, image and Major League Baseball affiliation with the Chicago Cubs.

Another minor league team is set to take the field for the first time this summer in the Prospect League. The Kokomo Jackrabbits are slated to play their inaugural game at Kokomo Municipal Stadium, currently under construction, May 30.

A Frontier League team, the Evansville Otters, will also start in May, as will the Gary Southshore RailCats of the American Association.
