A special meeting involving financing for the McCurdy Hotel project in downtown Evansville has been pushed back. The Kunkel Group purchased the historic property a few years ago and plans to redevelop it. The hotel has been vacant since 2006.

Our partners at WNIN report the city has postponed a special hearing in which a penalty process could have started for the owner. Kelly Coures with the Department of Metropolitan Development tells the station, “Kunkel will allow the city to meet with its lender and confirm that financing is in place for the $12 million project.”

The hearing has been rescheduled for March 12th.

Kunkel plans to renovate the hotel and transform it into apartments. The hotel most recently housed a retirement home.
