Once again, a Sunday alcohol sales bill has died in the Indiana General Assembly. Representative Tom Dermondy (R-20), the bill’s author, pulled the proposal because he said there were not enough votes to pass it. The proposal had been amended to require grocery stores and pharmacies to sell alcohol in designated locations and keep liquor behind the counter.

This session marks the farthest legislation to eliminate Indiana's 80-year-old ban on Sunday sales has advanced. Indiana is the only state with such restrictions.
